GLUFOSINATE

Glufosinate-ammonium is a broad-spectrum, contact herbicide used widely in agriculture to control a variety of annual and perennial broadleaf weeds and grasses. Unlike systemic herbicides like glyphosate, it primarily kills the plant tissue it comes into direct contact with by inhibiting the enzyme glutamine synthetase, leading to a buildup of ammonia in the plant cells. It is frequently used for weed control in vineyards, orchards, and with genetically modified glufosinate-resistant crops.
